Buying a car in Singapore can be potentially complicated. More so than property and in certain cases even the stock exchange!
Inaugurated by experienced motoring journalists from here and abroad late 2007, we’re still submiting ourselves to massive transformations in order to be the one stop, authoritative source when it comes to cars and ownership in Singapore.
We thrive on the existence of anything to do with four wheels and/or a spare. Advertisement driven, politically off-centred reviews are all too common nowadays.
You, our readers, deserve better.
Not everyone gets to sample a Honda Civic, let alone a Lotus Elise for days on end. And why buy a magazine? We use that privilege to your advantage, with optimism that our all-out honest opinions make that bit of difference to your car buying experience.
SgCarMart has come a long way since 2004. In the same way that we proudly proclaim to be Singapore’s number one portal for new and used cars alike, we hope to strive for similar heights with our newfound editorial abilities.
We’re still fresh out of the oven. Therefore, any form of criticism will be deeply treasured. Like I’ve mentioned before, we expect to take as hard as we give!
Amery’s love for cars runs deep into his past, courtesy of a dedicated mother who made repeated trunk runs from Singapore to Kuala Lumpur, and back again every weekend during her pregnancy with him. It has been said that his sense of adventure started even before the onset of his pretentious birth!
Having lived and studied and worked in Australia as a pianist and choral conductor for nearly 6 years, he is relatively new to the motoring industry. Having purchased a $500 Ford Escort upon passing his license then, he has come a long way in terms of ownership and familiarity where cars and motorsports are concerned. From the humble Hyundai to Nissan Skylines and the trickiest of Formula racing cars and single seaters, there’s hardly anything with four wheels that he hasn’t owned or driven.
Amery brings his extensive experience in cars and technical know-how to sgCarMart’s young and vibrant team!
There’s petrol flowing within and the suspension is set rock hard. But unfortunately, there aren’t twelve cylinders – only one. Nevertheless, having eleven pistons less hasn’t stopped Andy from getting all pumped up every time he gets to do anything related to cars.
He started penning his thoughts on cars at the very young age of seven, usually in the form of very crudely drawn images in the pages of Chinese textbooks, much to the dismay of his mother tongue teacher. He’s also very grateful to have had the opportunity to write for a local motoring magazine. Ever since then, he’s fallen in love with the work and cannot bear to leave it.
These days, he’s constantly exploring better ways to spread the word about cars that matter, and prefers to tell the hard-hitting truth about some of them.
Since his early years, Jegan has been actively participating in the education of cars to the common man (a.k.a annoyed friends), teaching them differences between Lamborghini's and Ferrari's, and the relationship between the 'M Division' and BMW.
What started out as an interest during his kindergarden days very quickly turned into a passion. Trying to find an outlet for this burning passion and desire was not easy. Failed car videos and magazine projects with friends and a short stint as a valet fed his cravings even more, which eventually led him to joining us.
With his drive and unwaivering enthusiasm, Jegan brings added strength and knowledge into the SGCarmart team and still lives with the hope of one day owning a pristine midnight black Lamborghini Diablo SV 6.0 and an Audi S8. Till today he still checks out more cars than girls and his girlfriend couldn't be any happier.
When 2 different passions are infused together, it's a mindmeld of individual perception and imagination. He's a perfectionist and taking visually aesthetic photographs is his passion apart from cars. His passion has also brought him to join sgCarMart's funfilled editorial team.

Online, he is known as Vanq. His passion for photography developed upon attending a photography module during his first year of studies in Ngee Ann Polytechnic as a Multimedia & Animation (MMA) student. Having owned his first DSLR camera helped in merging his two passion together. Besides that, he focuses on other subjects as his theme for a photograph. Check out his works at www.vanq.net.
